Renoir, Two Sisters (On the Terrace) (1881) Fine Art Print

Pierre-Auguste Renoir painted this sunlit scene on the terrace of the Maison Fournaise, a riverside restaurant at Chatou outside Paris. Despite the title, the models were not sisters: the young woman was the aspiring actress Jeanne Darlot. Her red hat, the girl's flowers and the feathery river view behind them make it one of Renoir's most joyful images. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Larned Coburn Memorial Collection, Art Institute of Chicago.
